5-Year Market Forecast: App Spending Will Climb to $270 Billion by 2025

Global consumer spending on premium apps, in-app purchases, and subscriptions across Apple's App Store and Google Play is forecast to reach $270 billion annually by 2025, nearly 2.5 times the 2020 level, driven by COVID-19 acceleration.
The App Store will see a 21% CAGR to $185 billion, while Google Play grows at 17% CAGR to $85 billion.
Notably, non-game app spending on the App Store will overtake mobile games in 2024, reaching $86 billion vs $73 billion.
Europe leads growth, with 11 countries surpassing $1 billion in spending by 2025.
First-time downloads will reach 230 billion by 2025, with Google Play accounting for 187 billion.
