2025 State of Mobile: Health & Fitness Surges into the New Year

In 2024, Health & Fitness apps achieved record highs: 3.6 billion downloads (up 6% YoY) and strong IAP revenue growth, rebounding from post-pandemic slowdowns.
January 2025 saw downloads at their highest since 2022, with IAP revenue up 10% YoY to a new all-time high of $385 million.
Gyms & Fitness remained the top subgenre by downloads, while Medical Tracking surged 43% YoY, led by Health Tracker reaching 12 million MAUs.
The US accounted for over half of global consumer spending, with the UK second at 8%.
Apps promoting outdoor activity drove revenue growth, including Strava, OnX Hunt, Runna, and AllTrails, reflecting a shift from digital fatigue.
Fitness reward apps like Sweatcoin, CashWalk, and WeWard saw significant user growth and retention, with CashWalk and Sweatcoin achieving 30-day retention rates of 31% and 20%.
The category is on track to exceed $4 billion in global IAP revenue in 2025, more than double five years ago.
