2025 State of Mobile: AI is Everywhere on Mobile, from Productivity to Finance

Generative AI apps generated nearly $1.3 billion in global in-app purchase revenue in 2024, a 180% year-over-year increase, with downloads approaching 1.5 billion (up 92% YoY).
AI chatbots drove most growth, with Q4 2024 downloads up 119% YoY to 427 million, while AI art generators reached 85 million downloads.
ChatGPT maintained dominance with ~40% of IAP revenue and 23% of downloads, but competition intensified as Google Gemini, ByteDance's Doubao, and Microsoft Copilot launched.
Beyond chatbots, AI features proliferated across categories: over 3,000 apps added AI terms in 2024, with Productivity, Utilities, and Education leading.
AI-related apps totaled 17 billion downloads (13% of all app downloads).
The report highlights 16 generative AI apps surpassing $10 million in IAP revenue and 25 exceeding 10 million downloads.
