Mobile Users Spent $195 Million in Meditation Apps Last Year, Up 52% Over 2018

Global user spending in the top 10 highest-earning mobile meditation apps grew 52% year-over-year in 2019 to $195 million, according to Sensor Tower data.
This compares to $128 million in 2018 and just over $8 million in 2015, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 121% over five years.
Calm led with an estimated $92 million in 2019 revenue (up 46% YoY) and Headspace followed with $56 million (up 33% YoY).
These two apps have been in the top 10 every year since 2015.
First-time installs of the top 10 most downloaded meditation apps reached 57.4 million in 2019, up 26% from 2018, and up from 8.6 million in 2015 (CAGR 61%).
Calm added 24 million new users and Headspace 13 million.
The category has evolved from a potential fad to a significant revenue contributor, and future growth may see more niche mindfulness approaches.
